I am going to be a screenwriter. It is a job that is perfectly suited to me and it is a career that would actually make me happy. Until recently, though, I was unsure of the screenplay format. I had a vague idea of how it would look on the page but wanted to be completely sure before I got laughed at by film and TV executives.
I was bored one day a while back and was using my favorite Firefox application, Stumble!, and happened upon an amazing website. As a big Quentin Tarantino, David Lynch, Coen Brothers, and comic book (and related movies) fan, this was like ambrosia for me.
I’ve spent a ton of time reading the scripts for films like Pulp Fiction, Fargo, and James Cameron’s abandoned Spider-Man project. It’s helped me understand the process a lot more and inspired me in my own writing. But most importantly, it’s a lot of fun.
If you want to see how your favorite movies were transferred from the page to the screen, give it a shot.
