Band Pimping: Julian Casablancas (Originally published November 6, 2009)

I’ve talked about it before, and now it’s here.  Julian Casablancas, The Strokes’ singer, has released his solo album, Phrazes For The Young.  I’ve heard most of it, and you can consider my jaw dropped.  It strays far from Casablancas’s outings with his regular band, focusing on a much more dance-y vibe.  And it works.  Wow, it works.  The first single is called “11th Dimension,” and the only way I can describe it is The Strokes meets Lady Gaga.  Be amazed.  I know I am.
